Matt Lalande is a Hamilton lawyer that has been serving the community and clients all over Ontario since 2003. He has tried many bench and jury trials to verdict and has conducted countless mediations over hundreds of cases. Matt comes from a family of lawyers and judges who have been practicing law as far back as 1973.
Matt’s employment and disability law practice stems from litigating cases for critically hurt victims with life changing injuries. In almost every serious injury case, victims are left with disabilities that no doubt fall below the demands for any type of regular competitive employment. As a result many victims end up losing their jobs and/or applying for long-term disability. Now – a larger part of Matt’s litigation practice involves representing employees terminated from their jobs and claimants wrongfully denied their long term disability benefits.
Matt has recovered in excess of $10,000,000.00 in settlements for accident victims since 2003. He has also helped countless claimants recover their long-term disability benefits that have been cut-off or denied. Matt has also been representing both employees and employers in all facets of employment and termination law from contracts, severance reviews to termination litigation. Through his commitment to providing exceptional client service, Matt has been named by his peers as one of the best lawyers in Canada in 2018 through to 2021.
Being fired is what we call the capital punishment of employment law. If you’ve been terminated, it’s vital that you have your severance package reviewed. If your ex-employer is not being fair – then we will try our best to make it right and although we always try to avoid protracted, often cripplingly expensive litigation, we will try a case that we believe in to any Judge or Jury in the Province.

Matt Lalande is a disability benefit lawyer at Lalande Employment Lawyers and has nearly 20 years of experience litigating denied disability claims. Matt takes great pride in representing disabled individuals who suffer chronic physical or mental impairments that cannot work and who’s disability claims have been wrongfully denied. We understand that if you suffer from a chronic illness or injury, your ability to work is more likely than not compromised, your ability to earn income is limited or non-existent, and you are suffering from serious financial hardship.
Remember, long term disability is meant to protect you from unexpected events and entitles you to monthly benefits if you develop a significant illness or disability that leaves you unable to work and earn a living. Having a disability lawyer protecting your rights could be critical in helping you get the benefits you deserve. If you’ve been denied your benefits Matt Lalande is an experienced disability lawyer that can help.
